The main line is the alternating first-person description of father and son, interspersed with third-person narration of events.
Summary:
"These are all excuses," Connor said suddenly. "You're just angry that I'm getting in your way."
He stared straight at Haytham at the door, frustrated and anxious because of the failure of his plan. This is an era of racing against time, but it is also an era of delusions and lies.
"Don't worry, kid." Haytham drawled as he walked in from the door, and then closed the door behind him. "These adjectives will follow you for a long time, until you can understand from Davenport's rigid and even unrealistic set how many truths he has taught you that he thinks are correct but are actually absurd."
Connor clenched his fists and said nothing.
Haytham's cloak swung to his side and said calmly: "Sit down, you will want to talk to me about the Battle of the Chesapeake and the puppet British army."
"At least Achilles has always guided me, and he has never abandoned me." Connor lowered his voice, his eyes like a pool of stagnant water, "And you have never done anything."
This sentence made Hailsham's eyes flicker twice. After a few seconds, he blinked and stepped back, pulled out a chair in the middle of the room and sat on it. There were wine bottles on the table, all of which were unopened. As the bottle corks were pulled out with a muffled sound, Hailsham's somewhat hurt reply also rang throughout the room.
"On top of that, he spoiled my son."
