In ancient times, Baqi Dashe and Xusuo no Otoko were at odds in Takamagahara.
Xusuo cut off several of Baqi Dashe's heads and sliced the serpent's body in two.
Unable to recover because of the curse, Baqi Dashe wandered between heaven and earth, searching for the severed pieces of his body. And Xusuo, punished for destroying the world in a fit of prideful rivalry with the serpent, cast his shadow down into the mortal realm...
From then on, demons stirred in Heian-kyo.
Lord Lan is a descendant of Emperor Jimmu, yet is actually the severed tail of Baqi Dashe. He and the serpent were once one, but the curse keeps them from becoming whole again.
To untie a knot, one must find the one who tied it. But once this old feud is settled, this brief yet tender bond will also reach its end.
Lord Lan journeys west to the Central Plains, not knowing where the future will take him.
