#Story One: The Stubborn Stone#

A stubborn stone unexpectedly received a drop of an immortal's blood, and was reborn in human form.

But this also tied the stone inextricably to the immortal, binding them in a tragic relationship.

Years later, the mortal Lin Yuan met someone on a stormy night whom he almost mistook for a ghost.

Amused, the man told Lin Yuan a story about an immortal and a stubborn stone whose fates were entwined across three lifetimes.

The immortal and the stone had gone through several lifetimes, but none ended well.

Lin Yuan felt it was a shame.

Lin Yuan asked, "What happened after that?"

Tang Qing, the man Lin Yuan had nearly mistaken for a ghost, replied, "The immortal decided to give up."

Lin Yuan: "Huh? Why?"

Tang Qing didn't answer.

Only later did Lin Yuan learn that the beautiful jade man Tang Qing had described, with jade for flesh and bone, skin like creamy white jade, warm and smooth, unchanged by heat or cold, was none other than Lin Yuan himself.
