Eternal Night

P.S. In the second half of the year, I plan to put together a Thranduil-centered collection edition of The Eternal Night and The End of Time. The full text will receive substantial polishing, and I won't be fixing typos on Jinjiang anymore. Once I've sent copies to my friends and some time has passed, I'll post the final version. Back then, I was afraid of abandoning the story, so I rushed through the later parts, and I'm not very satisfied with how they turned out. There may be quite a long gap before I post the revised final version, so please forgive me, dear readers. For now, please make do with this version. I promise the overall direction and ending won't change.

The current full text has not been added to, deleted from, or revised. It remains the old 2014 version, including the parts that stray drastically from the original canon. The occasional red dot means I'm changing punctuation or chapter titles. The chapters added after the original ending at Chapter 88 are not new content. I split up chapters that used to be over 7.5K characters and moved the sections later to make each chapter a better read. If you've read it before, there's no need to read it again. But if you're particular about the wording, feel free to take a look. I apologize in advance if this causes any inconvenience to those of you who have this story in your favorites.

&Still hopelessly caught up in Middle-earth and The Silmarillion. In 2020, I'm focusing mainly on The Silmarillion fanfic about Feanor and the bears, Starflow, and original fiction. I don't have enough energy to work on The Widow, a diary-style AU about Thranduil and Elrond, so there's no telling when I'll finish it. Read at your own risk. (Actually, I don't think I like AUs very much, so I might just leave it unfinished, orz...)

2014.5–2018.6.27. Four whole years, and I finally dragged myself to the finish line. The later parts are a bit rough because I didn't have much time to write. I'll finish it first and polish it gradually. Unless something unusual happens, I won't make any major changes to the plot. Oh my god, I finally finished... Damn, Thranduil is such a pain in the ass!!! Such a pain!!!!

A bonus story about the Elf King and Queen: the history of the Elf King and his son loving and fighting each other (a family story! A family story! A family story! I'll say it three times because it's important!). I've been in a bad mood lately, so I'm changing the blurb's style (it doesn't match the story! Doesn't match! Doesn't match!). Please stick with it through the first three chapters. All the good stuff is later. Honestly, even I can't get through the first three chapters now, three years later (I'm just showing off! Showing off! Showing off!).

Leaf: "Dad! You told me I could go chop off the monster's claws, then you wouldn't let me!"

The Great King: "All you ever want to do is chop things! If you think you can beat it, then go chop it! Get back here!"

Leaf: "Wah..."

Leaf: "Dad, I'm going to the Black Gate with Unwashed Hair and Shorty to fight a monster."

The Great King: "Get back here! That monster couldn't be killed even when your grandpa and I fought it to the death. You can't handle it!"

Leaf: "I've already gone too far. I can't come back..."

The Great King: "What are you going on about now?"

Leaf: "You're both so old. Why don't you get your butt off the throne and let me sit there for a while? Could you hurry up and take a ship to find Mom?"
