Ten years ago, the vassal state of Guo raised an army against the Great Chen Dynasty.
The Great Chen had five vassal states: Guo, Yue, Han, Dai, and Lu. Guo later destroyed Lu, while Yue annexed Han, leaving the world divided in three.
Yet the King of Guo refused to declare himself emperor, all because he was searching for something in the old Chen imperial palace.
Six years later, he passed the throne to his only son, Jiang Qingxie.
Ten years after the fall of Chen.
Mu Manor, on the edge of the desert, was wiped out by a band of Guo soldiers. Mu Jia, the sole survivor, set off alone and met Chu Chen, the third son of a wealthy merchant in Yue.
Later, seeking revenge for his clan, Mu Jia devised a plan to save the Queen of Dai from an assassination attempt and was named a First-Rank Marquis.
On the road to Yue, Mu Jia and the Chu brothers drank and gambled beneath the moon, sharing their innermost thoughts. He said his greatest wish in life was to plant a mulberry grove with the one he loved, then ride together to the ends of the earth.
On the banks of the Maha River, the King of Yue hosted a grand banquet for his ministers and merchants. He was assassinated at the feast. Chu Chen was framed for the murder and bound aboard the royal barge.
The barge struck dangerous shoals and capsized. Chu Chen's fate was unknown after he tried to save Mu Jia.
When Mu Jia came to, he discovered that he had fallen into the hands of Jiang Qingxie, ruler of Guo, who had forced him to swallow the deadly poison "Lotus Garment." At the same time, Jiang Qingxie had learned the identity Mu Jia had kept hidden...
The secrets and events buried for ten years were finally brought to light.
What tangled passions and desperate devotion lie behind this game of fate for dominion over the world? And when their destinies reach their end, who will win this game of hearts?
Or perhaps there will be no winner at all.
Only that stretch of mulberry trees, their branches swaying in the desert wind.
Who sings of the mulberry grove?
