A Few Words Before the Story--
Please read carefully. I won't explain afterward.
I came up with this on a whim while writing the Qixi Festival bonus chapter.
Don't say I'm digging another hole. Yes, this is a serial, but every time Xiao Yezi updates, she finishes the entire story in one go.
The stories are logically connected, but not chronologically. In other words, you can read each one on its own, so there's no question of whether I'll leave it unfinished.
These little stories don't follow a fixed timeline. It all depends on what kind of plot idea Xiao Yezi comes up with lately.
So one story might be about them before their wedding, while the next could take place after they've had children.
All right, let me tell you about the characters' personalities--
Yang Jian. In these stories, Yang Jian is an all-powerful, all-capable, unbeatable being. He's a god, he's a demon, and his personality is completely different from the Erlang Shen in Jiu Nian's writing. My Erlang Shen is the ideal male lead from a Taiwanese romance novel, the kind you can imagine as utterly flawless: extraordinarily capable, powerful, able to move between the worlds of good and evil, sometimes cold and ruthless, sometimes gentle and wealthy. It all depends on who he's dealing with. Don't get hung up on whether he's similar to anyone else. This story has very little to do with The Lotus Lantern: Prequel or The Lotus Lantern: The Original.
Ao Cunxin. You won't find a hysterical Miss Cunxin in these stories. She's beautiful, adorable, understanding, sweet, and obedient, the third young lady of her family. Sometimes she acts coquettish, sometimes she has a little tantrum, sometimes she gets jealous of Yang Jian, and sometimes she comes up with her own little devilish schemes. But she won't be the jealous shrew from Jiu Nian's story. She's the perfect Ao Cunxin. Don't get hung up on other things.
About the stories--
Every story posted here is a sweet romance. Xiao Yezi won't follow the original plot and write about the two of them separating. These stories take place before marriage, after marriage, and after they get back together. They're all sweet, occasionally bittersweet, and absolutely the sort of little stories that'll make your teeth ache with sweetness and leave you feeling all warm and romantic.
About the children: They may show up now and then: two boys and a girl. But most of the time, it'll just be Yang Jian and Ao Cunxin.
About the supporting characters: Anyone who should appear will appear. If there's someone you'd like to see more of, leave a comment and I'll write them in more.
About the antagonists: Aside from the regular big boss, Wang Xiyao, who'll pop up from time to time, a story may or may not have an antagonist. It all depends on what I think of at the time. But antagonists are always minor characters who get dealt with right away. As I said before, Erlang Shen here is an all-powerful, godlike being. The antagonists aren't any particular characters, so don't worry about it. They're just there to make up the numbers.
About the plot: Please don't read these stories as if they were set in ancient times. Mr. Yang is just an ordinary modern man, so anything that would normally happen in this kind of story can happen. There'll be premarital shenanigans, so look forward to it... I just haven't figured out how to write them yet. Actually, I did come up with a little something last night.
