And who toys with the rules of the world, treating all our hard work like pawns in a game of chance? Who?

So we came to this place where, according to legend, anything can happen.
Explanations of terms used in the author's notes: There may be a few abbreviations, but I guarantee everyone will understand them.
This is a story of passion and friendship, brotherhood, fiery enthusiasm, and a spirit of adventure.
Don't be fooled by that sentence above. This is actually a story about two former archmages conducting systematic experimental research into the spellcasting traits and behavioral patterns of three Devil Fruit users. Of course, other things happen too. Changes in relationships and the like are part of everyday life as well.
The background for this work covers all the content of the One Piece anime up through Fish-Man Island. It may include characters from the manga's New World arc, but that's not guaranteed. The author has only watched it once, and may have missed things by not paying close attention at times. Memories may also differ from the source. I'll do my best to verify important details, though some details of the main story will be changed where it makes sense. In addition, the author has read all three volumes of the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy, as well as all of the Dragonlance Legends trilogy up to the point before Raistlin replaces Darkness and destroys the world. (That is, this story's setting does not include Caramon's second alteration of history, nor the later-published setting in Dragons of Summer Flame about Raistlin returning to the future, though its timeline will be referenced.) The author understands the Forgotten Realms setting for little Karsus's personality and talent, but has never personally played the Dungeons & Dragons games. (A tabletop game based on them is still pretty far removed, right?) As for the use of various kinds of magic and the structure of the magical world, the author doesn't plan to cram any more details from the setting guides. I'll only build on the way magic is portrayed in Dragonlance and the Netheril setting, and add my own imagination. (After all, it's the Age of Netheril, and even official fanfiction is still just fanfiction. But if the story eventually goes to Netheril, I'll definitely do my research.) As for why little Karsus appears in the form of a little girl, please refer to the Jinjiang masterpiece (HP) Vacationing at Hogwarts, which has basically been confirmed to be abandoned, or you can think of it as the influence of Big Sister Mystra when creating an avatar (not really). In any case, Karsus himself doesn't care what form he appears in, so we don't need to care either, right? Mm-hmm. (I actually called this child by their full name without a suffix... Running away in fright...)
September 26, 2015 note: The author is taking some time off. Things in the Prime Material Plane have been exhausting, and even the little free time I have is being used to rest. Besides, even if I came back to write, I probably wouldn't be in the right state of mind. I'd be dissatisfied with my work and unhappy too. So, kids, please wait patiently for me. I'll come back and update your progress bar once I've finished my quests in the Prime Material Plane.
October 26, 2015 note: I'll leave the old embarrassing stuff up for now. I put genuine effort into what I wrote before. It may not flow very well, but it can still make me think. Whether I'll eventually fill in those few chapters with a prologue is still completely up in the air. :)

Hehehehe, I said I was going to update the second chapter, but I ended up coming back to update the first chapter. A lot has been changed, a lot. I added some thoughts about Ace, and sorted myself out by adding the word "Stupid and Silly" instead of just a few words, including new information about my parents, and most importantly, the card-playing attribute is online! When I wrote that paragraph, I suddenly wanted to add it, and I was very happy after finishing it. Human nature and the beauty of the soul are the source of mutual respect and equal treatment. Hey, I forgot a lot of ideas while writing the second chapter. . . No matter, the subsequent plot has been subverted in my mind countless times, and the performance is also uncertain, completely affected by my mood, hehehe. And I have to do it by myself. . .
