When I woke up, the light was dim, but I could still feel the rhythm of my breathing. That meant I hadn't died.
Thank goodness.
I'd thought I'd kicked the bucket at a traffic jam on the Third Ring Road on the very first day of university.
Here's what happened. I was in a hurry to get to the opening ceremony and got stuck halfway there, so I actually made a snap decision and left the expressway. Having never set foot in this unfamiliar city before, I soon found myself lost in a giant web of roads. Faced with all those crisscrossing routes and the dizzying view from above, I lost consciousness under the blazing sun before I knew it, and toppled over.
As I fell from the overpass, I might still have been holding a waitlist admission notice.
It read:
Gongqi You, male, 18, School of Automation, Nanshan University, Mechanical Automation.
I was waitlisted because, although my grades had gotten me into Nanshan University, I hadn't received an admission notice by the end of the summer break. I later found out my file had been deleted because someone else had the same name.
After all, it was pretty unlikely for someone to have the same name, but the university was utterly irresponsible to delete my file without asking. I printed the waitlist notice at the last minute and paid for express delivery, all just to make it to my very first university opening ceremony.
And then it all ended in tragedy.
While writing this, I was listening to "Hotaru"
Occasionally I came over and found that the author has updated his article! In fact, I prefer fairy tales to these types, like Dunhuang paintings, but I will read them as long as they are written in big letters. It seems that I like to write about forbidden love.
