I wanted to write a transmigration farming story about building up a new world, but also wanted to write a melodramatic, angsty reborn romance, so I mashed them together into an odd mix.
The career plot takes center stage, with romance as a secondary focus. Fan Chunjin transmigrates, Song Zhen is reborn. Their past life was painful, but this one is sweet. One-on-one romance, happy ending.
Fan Chunjin, who had just earned the title of Golden Investor, transmigrated into the son of a down-on-his-luck scholarly family in an ancient world. His only golden finger was a phone that never ran out of battery, and the only usable app on it was a food delivery service.
His ambitious father spent every day studying late into the night, hoping to pass the imperial exams, serve as a local official, rise to the highest ranks, and benefit all under heaven.
Helpless, Fan Chunjin had to support the family and help his father rise to the position of Grand Secretary. He could only put a transmigrator's special talents to use, but after all his tinkering, he discovered that the capital's Third Prince, Song Zhen, had already beaten him to the punch with "cement" and "glass."
Fan Chunjin asked excitedly, "How do you know these inventions?"
Song Zhen shook his head, his face full of affection. "A close friend taught me."
Fan Chunjin asked jealously, "Which close friend?"
Song Zhen smiled without answering. "You, in your previous life!"
The career plot focuses mainly on economics and finance, biomedicine, and commercial trade, with chemistry, industry, entertainment, and education also making appearances.
Note: "Junior Grand Secretary" was originally a Ming dynasty title for Yan Shifan, son of Grand Secretary Yan Song. Here, it refers generally to a Grand Secretary's son.
