Based on a dream I had. The story is mainly about a world divided into 17 layers, with one world in each layer. The worlds don't interfere with or connect to one another. When someone in any of the worlds qualifies, they can go to a higher-level world. That's when the Gatekeeper appears to guide them to the entrance.
However, once they enter a new world, they forget all their memories of the previous one. To help the qualified person fit into the new world, the Gatekeeper lets them keep their existing knowledge. They also have their own social circle, as if they had always lived in that world.
