Strictly speaking, Izuru Kira isn't exactly a great person. Back when he was a student at the Academy, perhaps he still had pure dreams and ambitions. He was a little clever, hardworking, and quite talented. He couldn't be called a genius, but he was certainly one of the more outstanding students.
Still, there's no denying that this seemingly mild-mannered young man is no pushover. He has all the authority you'd expect of a lieutenant. Unfortunately, when he runs into the troublesome Gin Ichimaru, even the toughest guy can't keep his footing. Getting the short end of the stick is inevitable, and fighting back is useless.
As for Gin Ichimaru, he's quite the oddball. He's a genius, sure, but he always acts mysterious, which doesn't exactly help his relationships with other people. So it's no wonder that Captain Hitsugaya of the Tenth Division is always keeping an eye on him. You could say that's the price of asking for trouble.
