A Brief Monster Romance: Apricot and Red Thread

A love story about an apricot-blossom tree spirit. After reading the first passage I'd written, a friend told me I must be twisted to write something so sad. I argued that it wasn't sad at all. Didn't I say they might end up together? Besides, if this counts as sad, what about all the stories that made me cry?! Forgive my friend, who only reads fluffy romance. But on the way home, I still imagined an extra ending where they finally got together. I don't know whether I'll write it up. The female lead is actually based on me, which is a little embarrassing to admit. Ya Juan is based on another friend. And finally, the names were all made up in about a minute. Don't believe me? The male lead doesn't even have a name. Though, does Xing count? It felt too feminine, so I didn't use it. I picked the name Hong Xian after glimpsing it in a song lyric while I was listening to music. Most of the details are real. The inspiration hit me out of nowhere at this morning's meeting. The song I listened to today was the theme song for The Legend of the White Snake by Shaonian Shuang. The apricot blossoms here don't bear fruit. They're a different kind of apricot blossom tree, one that doesn't produce fruit. As for why they're still called apricot blossoms, it's because my mom told me that's what they were... Hope you enjoy reading~ It's been so long, so I've decided to mark this story as complete. In the end, Xing also told Hong Xian that she liked him, even if the timeline was different... Finally, thank you to everyone who's been reading this story all this time! Theme:
