The creators say in the episode's commentary track: What you see is a man on the edge of being a sociopath, and he's addicted to it; and another man looking at him, indifferent to people in danger, and questioning his moral character. . . . . . He convinces himself that he doesn't need anyone, that he has no heart; but ultimately, we find out that's not the case, that he's not like Moriarty. . . . . . (Confrontation scene with Moriarty in the swimming pool, Mike comments) Sherlock told himself that if he hadn't already made his choice, he could actually become another Moriarty. They are the same kind of people, both of them are much smarter than ordinary people. It was also at this time that he realized that he was not heartless. He had the kind side of ordinary people and was not one of the hard-core villains.
I didn't think much about it when I first watched it, but the commentary track said a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that really touched me.
I watched the commentary track for two episodes today, which happened to be s1e3 and s2e1. The director's edit and the writers were so awesome. Brother Mai has such great attention to detail and is so loving.
Hooper is better translated as amber
Suddenly it occurred to me that I should call Watson Dr. Instead of Mr. Pay attention to the capitalization. The use of "." Between "of course" and "you can't" is actually contradictory to the context.
Wow, Watson, they are scary.
