Gui Deng stroked Da Bai's back again and again without saying a word. Da Bai rubbed his head against Gui Deng's chest. After a long while, Gui Deng finally spoke. "You're Bai Ze, aren't you?" Da Bai asked in confusion, "What is Papa Gui Deng saying? Da Bai doesn't understand." "Your name is Bai Ze." Gui Deng lowered his head. "Not Da Bai." "Bai Ze?" Da Bai tilted his head in puzzlement. "Why am I Bai Ze instead of Da Bai?" "Bai Ze. Your name is Bai Ze. Just remember that." "Are Bai Ze and Da Bai different?" Gui Deng was silent for a moment before answering, "If you're Bai Ze, then I won't want to see you again." "Then I won't be Bai Ze. I'll just be Da Bai, okay?" "That's not something you get to decide." Gui Deng couldn't help rubbing Da Bai's head again. Perhaps he should call him Bai Ze now. "But why? Papa Gui Deng doesn't want to see me?" "Gui Deng. Don't call me Papa." "I... I still don't understand." "When you do, you'll start to hate me."
