The Beginning of That Year

The taste of longing, a face glimpsed by chance, a dream that leaves no trace, pain that catches you unprepared, possibilities imagined, falling in love with anticipation.

A story of meeting and falling in love, parting, rekindling the relationship five years later, and finally finding happiness.

Those days were always complicated in their monotony, filled with Wong Kar-wai's emptiness and Eileen Chang's trivial details,

like an hourglass turned over again and again, or a film playing on an endless loop.

Those sweet smiles, dancing lightly; those passionate vows, radiant and bright;

those things we no longer have the courage to do flicker before our eyes.

They leave, leaving behind a faint sadness and a touch of desolation.

Tears full of longing, salty to the taste.

A chance brush past, without the smile remembered from the past.

The rain still falls through the seasons, the snow still drifts, flowers bloom and fade, and the cycle goes on.
