In Memory of Balzac: Pretty Girl Maker 4 Fanfiction
At last, humanity has won the war against the demons. Has the golden age of the Kingdom of France arrived? When “I” return from the distant East, I find my homeland even more disappointing than I remember. The only person who makes a deep impression on me is Madame Rococo. This beautiful woman is full of secrets, and before I know it, I have begun to uncover their edge...
This fanfic includes a fairly detailed introduction to the setting, so I hope readers who haven't played PM4 can still follow along. I'll borrow the game's original text here:
At the beginning of the story:
The invention of magic amplification, using magic stones as a catalyst, was like an industrial revolution for humanity. It brought new and immense power, and the borders of the kingdom expanded explosively as a result.
Perhaps it was a prank by the gods, but during this revolutionary era, a rich vein of magic stones was discovered in the Forest of the Demons. Adventurers seeking to get rich overnight poured into the forest. Even the threat of demons and monsters couldn't stop human desire.
At last, the Demon King, whose sanctuary had been violated, broke his silence and led the demons into the kingdom. The kingdom was powerless against their overwhelming strength, and its destruction seemed only a matter of time.
But then, a brave magic swordswoman infiltrated the Demon King's army. Using every means at her disposal, she persuaded the Demon King to withdraw his forces. The kingdom was saved. The savior's name was Isabelle.
Ending: Humanity's Victory
And so the Second War Against the Demons ended in humanity's victory. At last, the age of humanity had arrived. The vast region once known as the Forest of the Demons had mostly become a human settlement. With magic stones as a medium, magic machinery had also advanced by leaps and bounds, and human progress was accelerating without end...
In the first chapter of In Memory of Balzac, I used some of his words directly in a few lines of dialogue. I was young and reckless. I am deeply embarrassed...
Theme:
Very good... Very good..
I simply don't know what to say~~
You use the very unique speaking methods and techniques found in foreign literary works to write about other people's lives through their perspectives. You are really awesome.
A little note:
The "port" in the article should actually be a dock... I'm used to it, it's called a port in the game.
Kris is Christina's nickname, and Phil is Philip's nickname.
Madeleine Street = bustling street
Christina, Cress... Familiar places, familiar names... I miss them so much...
