Synopsis

The Shocking Story of Xihou: The Medea of Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio

Reading the chapter about Xihou always leaves me astonished.

“Shang was never my husband. He plotted treacherously to keep my husband from me, though he was no husband of mine. He is my enemy. The child in my arms is the enemy's child too. Kill it, and I will return to Man!”

The child may be the “enemy's,” but isn't it also her own?

If she can't understand even that, she has no right to be a mother.

I only pity the child in her arms!
