The young painter Zhu Li has lived far from home for six years. Six years later, he returns to the country under a new name and picks up his brushes again. On the flight home, he happens to meet Tang Ze, his future boss and the owner of Tang's Gallery.
At the celebration banquet after an art exhibition, Zhu Li pretends to be drunk so he can sneak away, but somehow ends up in Tang Ze's bed.
The deed is done, and there's no taking it back.
"Um, about last night..." Zhu Li rehearses what to say. Should he tell him to pretend nothing happened, or say, "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. I'll book a flight right now and disappear from your sight..."
"Since it happened, you have to take responsibility for me."
For a moment, Zhu Li thinks he's hearing things. Not only that, he thinks he's seeing things too. That smiling face in front of him doesn't look at all like someone who's been hurt.
"It was my first time, so you have to take responsibility for me." Thinking Zhu Li hadn't heard, Tang Ze repeats himself. His expression is utterly serious.
Zhu Li studies his face, not missing a single expression, afraid he might be mistaken. "May I ask what you mean by 'take responsibility'...?" he asks cautiously.
Tang Ze blinks. "We only just met, so getting engaged would be a bit too fast... How about we start by dating?"
Zhu Li's mouth falls open. After a while, he feels his chin with his hand to make sure it hasn't dropped off.
