Shen Bi [The Legend of Lu Zhen]

She still remembered how lovely the moon had been that night, round as a jade plate and suspended high in the sky. The man in a black robe stood in the courtyard, bathed in soft moonlight that draped over him like a faint veil. He seemed like a mysterious, tranquil figure in an ancient painting, one that stayed in her heart at first sight. Perhaps that first meeting had been so beautiful that it gave rise to feelings she should never have had. Once love took root, it could not be held back. Everything that followed was fate's tribulation. There was no one else to blame.
