"Hey, why is this world in color?" Huangse Liangtai rested his face against the car window. His breath fogged the glass, and his golden eyes watched the raindrops trickle down, his lips pressed tightly together. The agent driving the car let out a snort. "What, did you expect it to be black and white?" His hands never stopped moving on the steering wheel, making a sharp turn to shake off the car following them.
Why?
"Get out."
Huangse Liangtai opened the door and leaped out, heedless of how shocked everyone in the car was. The rain soaked him, letting the scarlet color bloom unchecked. Giant raindrops pelted his wounds, bringing another burst of pain. Huangse Liangtai stood in the middle of the sidewalk, his face expressionless. Green traffic lights, red car lights, umbrellas of every color. Everywhere he looked was a riot of color. Huangse Liangtai began walking with the crowd. His drenched, bloodstained shirt and trousers made him stand out.
"Huangse Liangtai! Are you crazy?" The agent ran over with an umbrella and shoved it into his hand. Frowning at his bedraggled state, he said, "You're a public figure now..."
Huangse Liangtai looked at his reflection in a shop window. The hair and eyes his fans praised as bright as the sun were black as an abyss, and his wheat-colored skin was as white as snow. His voice was barely more than a murmur. "Why is it black and white?"
He didn't belong in this world.
"What are you talking about?" The agent furrowed his brows in confusion. "What here is black and white?"
The umbrella, like a flower knocked down by the rain, slipped gently to the ground, sending ripples across a puddle. Huangse Liangtai seemed to have figured something out and began to laugh. He didn't even realize the umbrella had fallen from his hand. He gently wiped the water from his lashes, unable to tell whether it was rain or tears. His smile was mocking and despairing, yet held a trace of acceptance.
"So I'm a monster."
