(Really, this is just something that's been weighing on me: I've read so many end-of-the-world stories where the protagonist's golden finger is absurdly powerful. They're fun while you're reading, but leave you feeling empty afterward. I always feel it's unfair to the people around the protagonist who deserved to live, but died because of them.)
(So this story does have cheats and satisfying wish fulfillment, but what makes the protagonist stronger is their own ability.)
