[The Eight Heroes] A Gentleman Keeps His Sword Hidden

When a hero sheds blood without seeking applause

And bears it all with such composure

The yellow earth turns red, and the iron heart grows heavier

What use is it to leave behind a loyal heart?

Eight people, but only one heart

Only one voice can be heard

In the end, sacrifice is unavoidable

See whose heart is truer

See whose life is tougher as they embark on this Long March

Twelve golden edicts arrive, overturning the age

Loyalty and righteousness cannot compete with time

Beyond a thousand miles, the dynasty is usurped

One, two, three fall, one after another, in a surging tide

An age meets its just end, no need to lament

Blood flows into a vast sea, with no time for regret

A thousand years later, history remains

We are but an ant, a speck of dust, amid earth-shaking changes

From the lyrics of "A Hero's Heart"

Ye Feng, an experienced online gamer, is forced to delete his account and start over after a painful breakup. Just when he thinks he can make a fresh start in a new game, he discovers that he has actually transmigrated. Caught between court intrigues and turmoil in the martial world, he is swept into one conflict after another against his will. At last, Ye Feng accepts his fate: if he can't avoid it, he'll join them and take a walk through this martial world.

P.S. The setting is based on the TV series The Eight Heroes. Those who haven't seen it can read this as an original story without any trouble. Everyone has a dream of the martial world. I just wanted to borrow a setting to tell the story I wanted to write, about chivalry, one's country and family, and the martial world. Since the author is a good-for-nothing, there may be errors involving online games and Southern Song history. Historical accuracy buffs, read at your own risk.

Another P.S. I love passion and excitement, so romantic tension and a golden finger are a must. I steadfastly support the bottom for ten thousand years and will not waver. Also, since this story was written by a lovestruck author for my male idol, it may be a little idealized.

As for updates, the author is rather lazy, so I can't guarantee daily updates. If there are lots of comments, I might add extra chapters. I promise nothing except that I won't abandon the story.

Thanks to the Lazy Duo for making the image. I love it.

The background image was found through Baidu. If it infringes on your rights, let me know and I'll change it immediately.

I've seen lots of readers asking about the pairing, so let me clarify: due to censorship concerns, an NP ending is no longer possible. It'll be one-on-one, and the pairing is Xie Jiaqi. In this world, looks matter, but even I didn't foresee how the story would develop. The romance will unfold naturally. Every story is written for what the author holds dear, and it's impossible to please everyone. If this isn't for you, click the top-right corner and move on. Please don't tell me. Thanks.

Announcement: My editor informed me that this story will become a paid serial on Sunday. There will be three chapters that day. I hope you'll continue to support it.
