The corner of the room where the kettle had sat for years looked particularly worn. Steam bubbled out of the electric kettle's spout, and the moisture had blistered the paint on the wall until it was practically peeling away. A thin layer of dust covered the window, just enough to keep the sunlight outside from getting in.
So even though it was only two in the afternoon, the south-facing office was so dark that they had to turn on the lights. The lampshade clearly hadn't been cleaned or cared for in ages. A dim glow seeped out from beneath it, and its yellowish light made the already shabby room look even older.
This isn't a horror movie set. This is the Special Case Team.
This is a story about a group of young people on the Special Case Team solving a case involving the asphyxiation of young children.
