Raising Ghosts

Gu Yan joined the army at sixteen and fought across countless battlefields, sweating and bleeding for nearly a decade. But after being framed by a treacherous minister, he was stripped of his position by a foolish emperor whose throne was still insecure and who feared his officials had grown too powerful. He was falsely accused of treason and sentenced to death by a thousand cuts. With a light, careless order to “execute him in the market and wipe out his entire clan,” the emperor took the lives of all 179 members of Gu Yan’s family. Bearing the agony of 1,824 cuts that had pierced him to the bone, Gu Yan did not enter the cycle of reincarnation. Instead, his spirit possessed the “lucky mascot” of Su Kun, an unemployed young man living centuries later. As luck would have it, Su Kun looked about seventy percent like that foolish emperor... The above is all smoke and mirrors! This is actually the tragic story of an ancient general’s spirit ending up in the modern world, scaring the bottom half to death before realizing he had mistaken him for someone else. Theme:
