According to the Biographical Records of the Vassal Kings: On the eighth day of the first month of the sixth year of Emperor Jing's reign, at midnight, the emperor summoned the Prince of Yong'an to appear before him at Weiyang Palace. He remained in the emperor's bedchamber all night and did not leave. The next day, for the first time in the six years since ascending the throne, the emperor held no court. At the hour of Chen, word came from the palace: the Prince of Yong'an had died. He was thirty-seven years old.
Though only a few brief lines, the account gives one much to ponder.
