Remaining Snow: Zhan Yan, The Legend of Lu Zhen

Ahhh, I couldn't sleep last night, so I typed a little on my phone~ I probably abandoned the plot somewhere in my dreams, so this reads more like a descriptive passage... I don't know if it's because the heat has gotten to me lately, but I keep imagining A Zhan and A Yan in snowy winter scenes. Maybe it's also because I really want to see princes and noblemen all bundled up in the inner palace, brooding over the changing seasons... I'm getting sidetracked... Please don't mind my terrible writing!!!~ [covers face] The title may have come from a poem called "A Winter Lament"... The original poem goes: Once there was a carefree wanderer, Who followed his whims and rarely held back. At dawn he rode with a coral bridle, At dusk he drank from a bear-ear cup. He picked flowers as he walked by the Qi River, And played the zither as he gazed toward Congtai. Past splendor had long since changed, And frailty and sickness came all at once. Then came the depths of winter, When clouds of sorrow gathered and broke apart. The sky was high, the sunlight pale, The woods stood stark, and the birds cried mournfully. The endless wind lashed the eaves, And leftover snow covered every branch. Once I roamed the cities of Wan and Luo, Now I hesitate among the wild grasses. The times have passed me by, And I can only grieve alone for myself. Theme:
