If the four girls in the dorm were divided among the seasons, Danshu would be spring, Gu Lin summer, and Zuo Ye winter. Cheng Qing, who didn’t ask much of life, would be the unlovely autumn, with little poetry or romance to it. Watching other people’s dramatic, turbulent stories, Cheng Qing always thought she was merely an observer. But when she took a step forward herself, she too found her quiet season filled with heart-fluttering moments.
This is a simple story about anticipation and understanding. Many of its ordinary moments come from the people around me. Aside from the male lead and supporting male characters, almost everyone is based on one or more people I know, reflecting parts of our colorful college lives. Song Chen, the male lead, is actually rather low-key. He isn’t as devoted as He Yichen, as restrained as Mo Shaoqian, or as determined as Xia Changning. He has a little scheming streak and can be willful.
