Royal Quartet is a story named after a cocktail, and every chapter title will also be the name of a cocktail. The story begins when Yukimura and Fuji, both hoping to forget Sanada and Tezuka, leave Japan for school abroad at the same time... To find out what happens next, look forward to Royal Quartet!
Yukimura and Fuji give me a very similar impression, so I’ve always thought they would quickly grow close after meeting. As for the ending, this story will definitely conclude with Tezuka/Fuji and Sanada/Yukimura, though there will likely be scenes that resemble a Yukimura/Fuji pairing along the way, especially in the eyes of the two emperors. However, Yukimura and Fuji will be friends, not lovers.
(Whispering: Around chapters eight or nine, I really wanted to write a Yukimura/Fuji storyline, with the two living together in France and never returning to Japan. Perhaps they’d return to Japan and make the two emperors regret it, but in the end I decided to stick with the original direction.)
Royal Quartet was created by Keiji Nakamura and won the Cocktail of the Year award at the 1998 Suntory Cocktail Competition. It is made with fruit liqueur (Roses Creme Quartet), Courvoisier VSOP Roses, lemon juice, and Lanson Champagne Black Label Fruit. Its flavor is like four tastes working together in perfect harmony, a graceful and pleasing quartet ringing out in a glass. (Information referenced from 250 Selected Cocktails)
