After the voice actor meet-and-greet for the latest hit anime, Dark Spirit Knight, the moderately successful voice actor Akiyama Shinobu is on his way home when he happens to rescue chart-topping singer and musician Okinoshima Ryunosuke, who is being surrounded by reporters.
His colleague Chino says it must have something to do with the rumors surrounding him. Lots of newly debuted singers and entertainers want to use Okinoshima to climb the ladder, and he never turns anyone away. He's a womanizer.
But Akiyama doesn't pay much attention to entertainment headlines. His mind is full of plans to propose to his girlfriend of many years.
"I'm terribly sorry. I only have tuna sushi. I just bought a house, so I have to work hard to pay off the mortgage."
"You can stop pretending. We're in different fields, but we're both entertainers, so I understand wanting to climb the ladder."
Akiyama takes him home, never expecting his kindness to be mistaken for an attempt to use the singer for publicity. When the man gives him an ambiguous shove onto the sofa, Akiyama thinks this misunderstanding has gotten way out of hand.
But an even bigger blow comes later: his girlfriend's betrayal, a huge mortgage, and reporters closing in. Akiyama feels that his once peaceful life has suddenly become a complete mess.
