[Exorcist] Life Should Be Like Summer

QAQ This story has been shortened. Please see my collection, "Hyaku Monogatari."

Do you know, Akuma, that you are nothing but a sorrowful creature who should not exist in this world?

She turned away. Her white dress fluttered in the wind. After a long moment, she finally spoke:

Mr. Kanda, please make sure you are the one to end my life with your own hands.

It was a long time before she heard his answer:

...Yes.

A-k-u-m-a. Akuma.

A sorrowful creature, rejected by the world.

In the distance, a hymn seemed to rise.

To live is to bloom like summer flowers; to die is to be still and beautiful as autumn leaves.

Let life be beautiful like summer flowers and death like autumn leaves.

Though she knew all too well that, for her, it was nothing but a wish.

BGM 001: Antoinette Blue

BGM 002: This Is Nothing but a Fairy Tale

Both suit the mood of this story beautifully.

At the end of the nineteenth century, this is a story about the most sorrowful of demons.

I want to write about that era, and the helplessness of both exorcists and demons.

About religion, battle, faith, and hope.

To her, he was her... only faith.

Love is like an empire: it is built on belief, and once that belief disappears, the empire falls with it.
