We met five years ago, then met again five years later. Yet the turning gears of time never ground the little things in our memories away. I call you by no name, yet you always turn around as if we share an unspoken understanding. We all have a male friend who stays by our side until our youth has faded, though he may not be there for the long, quiet years that follow.
Sometimes the whirlpool of reality isn't too narrow to escape. We simply don't want to break free. This novel begins as a series of essays. I want to turn these memories into a memoir that leaves a lasting impression: the moments you and all of you shared with me, the scenery we passed together, and the people who left along the way.
