The True Story of Dream of the Red Chamber: Xue Baochai

Xue Baochai, styled Lady Hengwu, was from Jinling, descended from Lord Xue, a Purple Tenuity Palace official. A peerless genius, she ranked second among the Twelve Beauties of Jinling. Well-read and possessed of a remarkable memory, she had lofty ambitions and a generous heart, giving freely to others while rarely revealing her true feelings. This made her inscrutable and hard to fathom, earning her the praise of a lofty hermit in the mountains. After speaking frankly with the Xiaoxiang Maiden over a matter of admonition, she found in her a kindred spirit who understood her as one understands flowing water and lofty mountains, and together they shared in the Grand View Garden's years of glory. Yet the world was harsh and beauty fragile. Disaster struck without warning, and all the heroes of old, from the Xiaoxiang Maiden onward, perished. Premise:
