The Knight's Song

This is a tragic tale modeled on narrative ballads.

I wanted to write about a loyal knight and the search for that feeling, so... let's take it slowly.

This story tells how a corrupted knight ultimately corrupted himself and devoured the prince he was sworn to protect.

The story revolves around these central ideas: "If you like someone, make your move already," "Things like differences in status are meaningless," "Thinking that guarding someone with all your heart means they're yours is completely wrong. In this day and age, unless you say plainly how you feel, expecting your hearts to understand each other is a lie," and "The author loves loyal knights, and corrupted loyal knights are the best." It tells the story of a loyal knight whose beloved prince was about to marry someone else. The shock finally made him see the light, and he became corrupted.

The central message: Differences in status are bullshit. If you really want someone, make that difference disappear, as long as you love her enough.

Here's a rough explanation of the timeline.

The opening takes place in the present.

The knight has the prince confined.

Then the story flashes back to the past.

The knight is corrupted by the prince's betrayal and change of heart, and war breaks out.

Finally, we return to the time just before the present.

The knight resolves to spend the rest of his life with the prince and never let go.
