This is a short story.
When I was little, I watched the Journey to the West sequel, and I loved this mythological drama from the start. Maybe it has this flaw or that one, but to me, it holds more than flaws: it holds my childhood memories. What I found most disappointing about the ending was the one and only romance. Whether it was the straightforward, cheerful Bai Lianhua or the gentle, considerate Biyou.
Three hundred years after Tang Sanzang and his disciples successfully completed their pilgrimage, the heavens and earth tremble. The demon Wutian suddenly appears, Buddha passes into nirvana, and chaos engulfs the Three Realms. Wutian takes over the sacred mountain. Thirty-three years later, Tathagata Buddha will be reborn through the body of a reincarnated child. With the power of seventeen Sarira, he will harness the forces of heaven and earth, become invincible, and return to the Three Realms. To occupy the heavenly court permanently and rule the world, Wutian must obtain all seventeen Sarira and kill the reincarnated child.
And so the forces of good and evil wage war.
Theme:
The first section is very well written. I think Bai Lianhua's state of mind was calm after becoming a Buddha. In the last scene of the TV series, Lianhua also smiled slightly after seeing Ling'er, which was extremely intoxicating. There is a sentence quoted by the author that is very artistic and can only be viewed from a distance but not played with. Lotus was originally a mortal, trying to atone for Qiao Ling'er's sins. For him, she was willing to leave her hometown and travel thousands of miles just to see him, but she didn't know that there was already a woman by her side who was not inferior to her. Maybe they were still growing up back then and mistook liking for love. Bai Lianhua is Qiao Ling'er's wife and her responsibility. It wasn't until he experienced the world that he truly understood that the person he loved was no longer Lotus. You were so strong when you evacuated from the Tunnel of Reincarnation alone. You deserve to be so brave!
