In Another World, from the day it came into being, one race after another was born: demons, vampires, devils, elves, and humans.

In the early years of the Other Era, all the lands of this world joined together as one. The five races lived on a single continent, while most elves lived in the oceans. The races kept to themselves and did not interfere with one another.

By the end of the Other Era, the continent had split into three. The Northern Realm, home to the demons, was the largest, and so the Otherworld War broke out in full. During the war, the Northern Realm gradually split into two. A person who emerged from the newly divided land brought the war to an end.

From then on, demons and humans lived in the still-largest Northern Realm, and elves lived in the seas. Vampires lived in the Southern Realm, and devils in the Eastern Realm. The land split off from the original Northern Realm was called the Western Realm. But after the woman who ended the war appeared, sunlight never again reached the Western Realm. It became shrouded in darkness, all life withered, and no one could live there.

To celebrate peace in Another World, the leaders of the races designated the year the war ended as Year 0 of the Yuan Era. Thus began the Yuan Era.

In Year 15 of the Yuan Era, Fei Er, the woman who ended the Otherworld War, died of illness at the age of 32. In her memory, the leaders of the races honored her as the Great Angel. Each race sent people to the Western Realm to erect a stele in her honor, but all attempts failed. In the end, they agreed that each race would erect a stele at the center of its own territory, and name it the Great Angel Stele.
