The protagonist, Ruoruo, is a recent college graduate who has just started working. After being hurt time and again by her first love, Yu Tao, and by all those carefree youthful romances, she finally "loses her memory" completely when Yu Tao's current girlfriend gives her another cruel shock. The story follows the youthful lives of Ruoruo, her current boyfriend Yinan, her close friend Cang Yan, and a whole cast of other characters. In her "amnesiac" state, Ruoruo remembers nothing and simply goes on with the life she is supposed to live. Yet, shortly before her wedding to Yinan, she disappears for a while and tells him the truth: her "amnesia" was fake. She simply could not get past those painful experiences or endure any more shocks, so she pretended not to remember, hear, or see. She disappeared because she felt she had wronged Yinan. But Yinan's love for Ruoruo outweighed all of that. He only asked, "Are you willing to spend the rest of your life with me?"
After Ruoruo gave him an affirmative answer, Yinan said, "Youth should be lived without restraint. As long as I'm part of your youth, that's enough." In the end, Ruoruo and Yinan finally get together. Yu Tao also lets go of the past and lives a happy life of his own. Cang Yan and Ouyang cannot be together because Ouyang gets into a car accident, while Pighead and Shen Xiaohui really do make good on their promise, giving Ruoruo a son who calls her "Uncle." Apple's son cries at Ruoruo's wedding, saying, "Mom, I don't want a little brother."
