Two small rewards brought all of Boshang's memories rushing back to him.
The joys and sorrows of near and far, past and present: islands, mountain birds, foxes and fishermen; mountain strongholds, autumn waters, temples and snowy peaks; golden butterflies dancing above the imperial city during the Lantern Festival; then yellow earth, gunpowder smoke, and the sun's blazing heat. His body swayed slightly, and without thinking, he reached out to steady himself in the snow. He had always been afraid that once he left, he would never return. He hadn't expected that fear to come true.
