Our Story

This is a sweet new story about two former lovers...

"Our Story," performed by Penny Tai

A cold breeze blows in through the window / deliberately ruffling your hair / You slowly brush back those white strands / like an impatient child

/ You rock in the chair I gave you / another way of swinging on a swing / I imitate your endless muttering / I am your little child

/ I admit I like / that old tune you sing / so I hum along softly / so I'll remember it when I'm old

/ Let's talk about the foolish things we once did / Will it all make sense when we wake? / It turns out those two words, "I promise," / can weigh us down for a lifetime

/ Yet a little hook of the finger can make us believe so easily / Let's talk about the things we once missed / Do they only become precious after they're gone?

/ It turns out the seeds of dreams / need a lifetime of persistence / before we can wait for their fruit

I admit I like / that old tune you sing / so I hum along softly / so I'll remember it when I'm old

/ Let's talk about the past we each carry / Will we still hold on after all these years? / It turns out love / can trouble us for a lifetime

/ Happiness leaves us at a loss for words / Let's talk about the days ahead of us / Will we stop feeling lost when morning comes?

/ It turns out the way to live / is to pass a lifetime with an open heart / The journey simply helps you grow wiser
