A note: When I watched you, summer was not yet so long, and time had not yet been stolen away by you. My ponytail still rested safely behind my head. So when you are gone, amid the shifting time zones, am I still myself?
In truth, I only wanted to tell a story about trust. Simple, clear, unquestioning, wholehearted trust is hard to come by.
When people watch bubblegum idol dramas or tearjerkers from Hong Kong and Taiwan, they always lament how vile the villains are: how the second female lead schemes to sow misunderstandings, or how the second male lead steals the heroine's love for the hero. But they never consider this: if two people truly love each other wholeheartedly, why can't they manage even the most important thing, trust? If they really don't believe in each other enough, then their love simply isn't strong enough. It doesn't matter whether the person trying to come between them is a familiar supporting actor or a stranger casually telling a lie. Either could drive a wedge between them and the supposedly deep feelings they share. And so trust became the most important token they exchanged.
"If you don't believe me, then don't come looking for me again." Her expression turned cold.
"All right." He suddenly glanced at her. Each word rang in her heart like the bells and drums of a distant Buddhist temple.
They turned away at the same time. Neither looked back.
