Just One Rainy Season (AO)

First, my writing just isn't good enough. That's the most important point. This story is actually an old one I'm reposting. Looking at it now, the wording feels so affected and cloying (though my writing these days is... never mind). Second, this isn't a tragic story, either. A bad ending is just one kind of ending. What I wanted to write was a story that gets forgotten, a story that vanishes without a trace once the happy times are over. I once wrote a very long extra chapter for it, about how they met and came to understand each other, how they vowed to live and die together, and how they ended up like this. But I deleted all of it, because none of it mattered. The story I wanted to tell is finished. This is how it is. If it made you sad, take that as a compliment to my writing. If it didn't, well, look at my awful prose... It's not surprising, really. That's all I wanted to say. Theme:
