The Quarantine Zone

A by-the-book office worker takes in a terrorist leader bent on destroying the world. One has spent too long numb and cowardly in a rigid society, yearning for excitement yet afraid to face the consequences. The other has survived too many bloody fights in a primitive plague zone, acting recklessly and loving every minute of it. Changing the world is hard enough. Changing even one person is just as difficult. In the end, he becomes a "hybrid," rejected by two utterly different worlds. A technological society of cold, straight buildings like spikes, where numb and timid law-abiding citizens shuffle along with hunched backs. And A mysterious plague zone, barren and filthy, where alien creatures survive: primitive, bloodthirsty, capable of emotion, but without laws. This is a civilized society with a hidden, mad side and a rigid facade. Once the constraints of law and the fear within are removed, everyone is a terrorist in the making. Expected to end at around 60,000 characters. A short story, updated irregularly. Currently serializing. Your support is welcome! Theme:
