First of all, this is a crossover fanfic combining the old animated series The Legend of Zorro, also known as The Flying Zorro, with the movie The Mask of Zorro. The plot is primarily based on the animated series, with the movie as a secondary influence. The characters' clothing, buildings, and so on are based on the movie.
As for Spain, real historical events didn't fit with my setting, so I shifted the timeline of major events, such as the Spanish Armada. The story is set in the 1770s and 1780s. Electricity had just been discovered back then, and electric lights, telephones, and trains didn't exist yet. Thank goodness firearms and cannons were already around!
In fact, this is just a self-indulgent story set against a fictionalized version of real history. In short, the historical backdrop is real, but the characters and events are all fictional. Zorro, however, is a character from the original work.
The pairing in this story is Original Male Lead x Zorro.
My favorite character does have a male friend in the original, but that friend, an older schoolmate, dies in a single episode, so I subconsciously left him out. Also, I want to write an original male lead, so if you can't accept that, click the X in the upper-right corner.
This is the first story I've posted here. I hope to find friends who share my interests.
