Quiet Maiden

The quiet maiden is lovely, waiting for me by the corner of the wall. I loved her, but could not see her, so I paced about, scratching my head. The quiet maiden is beautiful, and gave me a crimson pipe. The crimson pipe gleams, and I delight in its beauty. She brought me a young reed from the pasture, so lovely and rare. It is not the reed that I find lovely, but the gift from my fair maiden. From “The Book of Songs: The Quiet Maiden” She is Jing Nu, an orphan of unknown origins, wandering among desolate mountains and spending her days with mountain springs and ancient trees. Her only companion is Pang Juan. He runs with her, sits in silence with her, and dreams with her. Until one day, a young man named Sun Bin intrudes upon the secluded world that had belonged to the two of them. To seek their ideals and fulfill their potential, the three descend the mountain to visit Guiguzi. The river flows on, the white clouds drift by. This journey will change their lives completely...
