The Ultimate Love of the High Tang

I originally wanted to write a transmigration story, but the women in my dorm were just too terrifying. One by one, they transformed into chivalrous heroines and wanted to join in. So, well, all I can do is try to make everyone laugh. I only knew that Li Shimin and Empress Zhangsun were devoted to each other, but when I looked into history, I discovered just how deep their love really was. My writing is pretty amateurish, so bear with me. Feel free to see yourselves in the characters.

The Tang Dynasty: Love Beyond Compare:

I once thought that even in the most magnificent palace,

there could be no love more simple and sincere.

But in truth, fourteen hundred years ago,

love was already there,

in a palace where peonies bloomed,

cherished for a lifetime,

held deep in each other's hearts.

This was love beyond compare.

Moved by the poison they shared,

bound by their promise to lie together in Zhaoling,

behind all that splendor,

there could be a love blooming at its brightest,

the purest and most enduring of all.

The Zhenguan Emperor and his virtuous empress were laid to rest together in life and death.

This was Li Shimin's promise to Empress Zhangsun.

“Till death do us part, and together we find joy;

I will take your hand and grow old with you.”
