[Gintama] The Woman Who Joined the Shinsengumi

This story won't be abandoned. I'll keep writing even after I get married and have a baby, though I feel like this thing isn't even a Gintama fanfic anymore!

People like us have no concept of where we come from or where we belong.

Drop your sword on the ground and use it as a pillow. That patch of earth is your home.

We ignore everything, yet willingly allow ourselves to be bound by other things.

Where loyalty lies, there is paradise.

As the title says, this is Gintama, with the Shinsengumi as the focus. No Mary Sue [important, right?], no all-powerful heroine [important, right?].

I'm not good at snark. I'm used to serious stories, and I can't write cuteness, tsundere behavior, or any of those moe traits.

The heroine is a shinigami reborn, a very serious person who likes to lecture people.

The male lead is Hijikata from the Shinsengumi, conveniently close at hand. If you support Mitsuba x Hijikata, just ignore me.

If you're diving in, be prepared for a long campaign. [Important] [Important] [Important]

I've worked out an outline. The plot at the beginning mostly follows Takasugi's address book, a list recording what became of the former Joui rebels. The Star-Seeking Arc will introduce a new faction representing the shogunate, which will later join forces against Takasugi, Harusame, and the Tendoshu.

I designed it this way because I loved the Joui rebel concept when I first watched Gintama, and wanted to write about those people.

As for the anime plot, important arcs like Benizakura, the Shinsengumi Crisis, and the Mitsuba Arc will be woven into the original story.

Overall, there will probably be more original plot than canon. Whether you like that is a matter of personal taste. I don't expect to force anyone to read it. I'll just write what I like, though I also think my writing isn't very good.

I've also thought about how writing original stories in fanfiction can be pretty miserable. There are lots of great original stories out there, and many people don't even read the original parts of fanfics. But that's all right.
