Huangfu Wu is a wild girl who's just entered the world of martial arts and has no special skills. Then, in a single night, she discovers that her own father used her as a wager and lost her to three young masters from prestigious families, to be their concubine... Huh? Why a concubine? Before she can figure out what's going on, she and her group of beautiful but useless senior brothers, along with the three prospective husbands, are swept up in a calamity that shakes the world of martial arts... Huh? Could it be that the peaceful days are finally over?
He knows no martial arts, yet his very name strikes fear into the hearts of the martial world, who dread him like a venomous snake or scorpion. He is skilled in incense and medicine, but knows nothing of the five flavors. Cool and distant, with a bland temperament, he seems like a mere supporting character or passerby, utterly lacking in presence. Yet, as an incense master of the Xun clan of Yingchuan, he secretly harbors ambition and strategic plans, with the talent to govern and turn the tide.
His martial arts are unfathomably powerful, yet he is a master of ingenious mechanisms from a mysterious tradition: the Mohists. He excels at crafting all manner of intricate devices and mechanisms, but has been blind since childhood and has never seen the world with his own eyes. Lazy and easygoing, he also happens to have a poisonous tongue and a penchant for mockery and sarcasm.
He is a renowned painter and calligrapher, a charismatic man of letters, naturally frivolous, yet both learned and martial, with extraordinary talent. He seems sociable and able to get along with everyone, but his true intentions are hard to fathom. He is neither wholly good nor wholly evil, sometimes kind and sometimes cruel. He seems to be on good terms with every faction and has dealings with both righteous and evil forces. It's impossible to tell whom he truly favors or despises, or what he is really after.
There are no Shaolin, Wudang, or Five Great Sword Sects here. The setting is so far in the past that Buddhism and Daoism have yet to flourish.
If this story has any historical backdrop, it is probably set in the late Eastern Han dynasty, before the Three Kingdoms were established and before the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
PS: If any characters in this story happen to share names with historical figures, it's purely for fun.
PS again: If any events in this story happen to coincide with historical events, it's purely for fun.
PS once more: The author promises to respect and draw inspiration from history, but won't make a mockery of it on a whim.
