I'm a COSer. I Love Anime, and I Love You Too

I ran into my ex-boyfriend while shopping for groceries at the supermarket. He was dressed in a suit and looked like the owner, directing the staff around. Then he turned and caught me staring at him. Embarrassed, I lowered my head and tugged at my skirt. The cheap dress I'd bought at a night-market stall just yesterday could no longer hide my six-month pregnant belly. He rubbed his hands together and said awkwardly, "Why don't we sit over there for a bit?" I nodded. Just like all those years ago, we walked side by side to a table and sat facing each other. I'd imagined countless times how we might meet again. I never thought it would be this awkward. His secretary brought us two cups of tea. I smelled it: top-grade Tieguanyin. I took a small sip, then set it aside. I was afraid of getting hooked, just like with feelings for someone. Once you're addicted, they're like poison, and you can't stop. "How have you been all these years?" After a moment of silence, he finally asked in a soft voice. Even amid the noisy crowd in the supermarket, hearing his concern made me want to burst into tears. But I didn't. I forced back the tear at the corner of my eye and smiled faintly. "I'm all right. What about you?" "Well, I started my own business after graduation. I only bought this supermarket yesterday." He nodded modestly, then pulled out the phone ringing in his arms, declined the call, and set it aside. "Why didn't you answer?" I asked, puzzled. He smiled faintly and shook his head. "I don't want to take calls just now, not in this situation." "Are you married?" "No." He shook his head. His secretary placed a stack of documents in front of him, but he waved them away and handed them back to the secretary. I laughed. "Looks like you're really busy, Mr. Busy." He nodded. "Yes. So busy I don't even have time to get married." So many times, I'd wanted to ask him: Where did you go after graduation? Did you date anyone afterward? What did you do? Did you ever think of me again? But it was all pointless now. He was still the same person he'd been back then, but I was no longer the same person I used to be. Time had etched its mark on our faces, and left behind scars of sorrow, too. Only when the tea in my cup had gone cold did I realize that most of the time had slipped away. I hurriedly picked up my little purse and said goodbye. I still had to hurry home to do the housework, cook dinner, and wash the clothes. There were so many... so many things waiting for me to do. A few days later, I was lying on the sofa scrolling through my social feed when I suddenly saw a post from him. Tears streamed down my face. The other day, I went to the supermarket and saw her buying discounted vegetables. She stood in front of the imported goods section for ages and couldn't even bring herself to buy a carton of yogurt. I just don't understand how someone I treasured so much could mean nothing to someone else. Theme:
