Chiba Kuon is Kirihara Akaya's twin sister, and suffers from congenital depression. Her grandfather dislikes her. Her parents married despite his objections, but later divorced after he interfered in their marriage. Her mother, Ikeda Tomoko, lost the custody battle and left Kanagawa in sorrow. Her father, Kirihara Sashige, remarried Haruko, whom he had been engaged to since childhood, at his father's arrangement. Ikeda Tomoko later remarried Chiba Toshiyuki. After Kuon fell into the water for unknown reasons, a doctor discovered signs of abuse. With the support of her current husband, Chiba Toshiyuki, Ikeda Tomoko brought Kuon back to Tokyo, where she was officially registered as a member of the Chiba family. Kuon attends Teito Elementary School in Tokyo, and Chiba Toshiyuki's son, Chiba Shun, dotes on this sister who appeared out of nowhere.
