Ye Tianqi visits Lin Yifeng, who has fallen ill, at Hualiu Manor. Late at night, he hears a voice calling and gets up to search for it, following the faint sound of a flute. In the long-sealed Boudoir Garden, a little girl suddenly rushes up to him, calling him "Brother Xianyan." He pushes her away and explains that he isn't the person she means. The girl leaves dejectedly.
Candlelight spills over, and a woman suddenly appears. Courteous but insistent, she leads Ye Tianqi to an ethereal house where water lies beneath his feet and strange lotus flowers bloom all around. Before coming here, Ye Tianqi had heard that a demon lived in the manor. The woman pours him tea and says she has a story to tell him. When the story ends, she waves her hand, and Tianqi's vision goes black as he falls asleep. She takes him back to the room where he had been resting.
Afterward, the woman tells the Red Witch, who has appeared before her, that she has let go of the grudges of the past. She then sets off with the Red Witch to wander the world. The next day, when Tianqi wakes, he still doesn't know whether the previous night was real or a dream. After giving it some serious thought, he suddenly realizes that he is the Ying Xianyan from the story! Turning around, he sees a little girl in red asleep on the chair beyond the curtain. He approaches and discovers that she is the same girl who held him and called him Brother Xianyan the night before!
Now that he finally understands everything, Tianqi decides to leave the manor. He can't bear to wake the sleeping girl, so he goes alone to say goodbye to Lin Yifeng. Lin Yifeng has recovered considerably overnight, so Tianqi can leave with a clear conscience. On the way back to his room, he meets a swordsman who says something he can't understand. Unwilling to get involved, Tianqi hurriedly takes his leave. But when he opens the door, he finds the room filled with the smell of smoke. The little girl is gone from the chair, leaving behind only a scorched red robe. It turns out that the swordsman was a demon slayer!
