The Green Jade Case
On an unfamiliar path of stone slabs, rain blurs the view. Autumn waters intoxicate, glazed glass shatters. I sweep my sleeve across the zither and listen as the strings snap. My shadow alone lights my dream; the night stars remain as they were, while three thousand threads of longing tangle in disarray.
Awake from the dream, the realm surges with turmoil. The world and the homeland are all sorrowful partings. They say that longing serves no purpose, but beyond the nine heavens, across ten thousand miles of land, two lines of pearl-like tears fall.
